Sakura (Cherry Blossom) Tea Bowl - Kyoto Ninsei Style

¥10,000

What more can be said about cherry blossoms! Now a symbol of Japan, millions flock each year to see the delicate white and pink flowers.

Rather contradictorily sakura symbolizes both life and death. Arriving at the beginning of spring, blossoms represent the return of life, but at the same time the short life of the blossoms also symbolise transience, a bittersweet reminder to enjoy life while we can.

Sakura season may be short, but you can enjoy the blossoms all year round with this beautiful bowl.

This is a Ninsei style tea bowl.

Ninsei (仁清) was a Japanese potter, who lived in the Edo Period, roughly between the 1640s to the 1690s. He is often credited as one of the key founders and influencers of 'Kyō ware', a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Kyoto. He perfected colourful painted pottery.
