Fresh Momiji (Maple Leaf) Tea Bowl - Kyoto Ninsei Style

¥10,000

Although not as famous as autumn's deep reds, in Japan the arrival of fresh green maple leaves is eagerly anticipated. The young and dazzling leaves are a reminder that summer in on the way, and life is once again at its fullest.

Unsurprisingly the new leaves symbolise fresh begins, abundance and good health.

As you drink your tea leaves (unlike other teas matcha is created by grinding down actual tea leaves), enjoy other green leaves.

This is a Ninsei style tea bowl.

Ninsei (仁清) was a Japanese potter, who lived in the Edo Period, roughly between the 1640s to the 1690s. He is often credited as one of the key founders and influencers of 'Kyō ware', a type of Japanese pottery traditionally from Kyoto. He perfected colourful painted pottery.
