A message from our Director
The warmest of greetings from Kyoto.
My name is Atsuko Mori, and I’m the Director of Camellia Tea Ceremony.
For over 10 years I have dedicated myself to spreading the joy of tea ceremony to foreign visitors to Kyoto.
I established Camellia by myself in the spring of 2014, opening a small tearoom on Ninenzaka. Two years later we moved to a larger machiya, and at this time were also invited to become caretaker of another property close to Ryoan-ji in order to preserve the old house and promote Kyoto’s culture to a wider audience.
After the desperately quiet years of the pandemic it took a little while to recover, but things are looking very bright. Last year we opened a kimono studio for our guests, and this year we have spent a great deal of time refreshing the teahouses to make your experiences as magical as possible.
The kettle’s always on at Camellia, so come and join us for tea.
