Flower Annex
Our new building, Flower Annex, is now open.
Located right next door to Flower Teahouse, Flower Annex has a ground floor tea room for larger groups, and a private tea room on the upper floor.
The ground floor room can host groups of up to 20 people comfortably, with chairs and tables prepared for all guests. Tea ceremonies will run on the hour between 10am and 5pm (finishing at 5:45pm). We have partnered with nearby Yume Kodaiji Kimono Studio to provide kimono rental for larger groups. As before kimono dressing will be booked 1 hour before tea ceremonies.
Opening Hours & Guest Numbers
Each session at Flower Annex is 45 minutes.
Both group and private sessions run on the hour:
10am ・ 11am ・ 12pm・ 13pm ・ 14pm ・ 15pm ・ 16pm ・ 17pm
Flower Annex’s ground floor tea room can host up to 20 people, with chairs and tables available for all guests.
Flower Annex’s upper floor private tea room can host up to 4 guests (if you are a party of 5 or 6 please get in contact as we might be able to accommodate you…contact@camelliakyoto.com).
The ground floor tea room at Flower Annex will be wheelchair accessible (via ramp) and suitable for those with mobility issues. Please contact us if you would like to book this room and have any special requirements.
Pricing
Group tea ceremonies are 4,000 yen per person (off peak) / 5,000 yen per person (March, April, October, November and the New Year period).
Private tea ceremonies are 10,000 yen per person (off peak) / 12,000 yen per person (March, April, October, November and the New Year period).
All prices include tax.
Flower Annex generally hosts children from 4 years and older, but please get in contact if you have any questions about this.
As a general rule Annex’s group tea room for is groups of 9 people or more. If you have groups smaller than this but would like to hire this space then please get in touch so we can discuss pricing.
Kimono rental can be added to group and private tea ceremonies for an additional 6000 yen per person.

Kimono Rental for Flower Annex groups is provided by Yume Kyoto Kodaiji. It is a 1 minute walk from the kimono studio to the teahouse.

Kimono Rental General Information
6000 yen per person.
Kimono rental can be reserved when making your tea ceremony booking.
Flower Annex private guests are dressed at our kimono studio, Flower Annex groups are dressed by our partners at Yume Kyoto Kodaiji kimono studio.
Yume Kyoto Kodaiji provides kimono dressing for Flower Annex groups. It typically takes 45 minutes to dress groups, and kimono bookings will be made 1 hour before your tea ceremony unless discussed.
Yume Kyoto Kodaiji opens at 9am and closes at 5pm (guests who have a 5pm tea ceremony can return for undressing before 6pm).
The studio can dress all ages.
Hair styling for groups at Yume Kyoto Kodaiji can be arranged and paid for on the day for an additional 1100 yen. There is no need to pre-book.
Although we do not need to know the sizes of each guest, it is useful to know how many men, women, boys and girls are in the group.
Important Information for Groups
Please arrive 5 minutes before the booking as a group.
グループ全員集合の上、５分前にまとまって入場をお願いします。
Ninenzaka (the local area) can be an extremely busy. When gathering as a group please make sure not to block the road, or entrance to the alleyway. Our staff will greet you when you enter the alley and will direct you to the Flower Annex building.
大通り、二年坂では固まらず、通行人の妨げにならないようにお過ごしくだい。
Photography is ok within Flower Annex, but refrain from taking photos in the alleyway and area outside Flower Annex. This is a local neighbourhood with private homes, so please respect the privacy of our neighbours. Please do not linger in the alleyway, and try to keep noise to a minimum.
周辺は個人の住宅のため、路地での写真撮影、立ち話、大声での会話はご遠慮ください。
Please do not eat, drink, smoke or vape in the alleyway or in the local neighbourhood.
Upon arrival at Flower Annex everyone will need to take their shoes off. If barefoot please bring some socks.
店内は土足厳禁でございます。お履物は玄関にてお脱ぎいただき、ご入室ください。裸足の場合にはソックスをお持ちください。
Flower Annex has only 1 restroom, so if possible please use the bathroom before arriving.
店内にはトイレが一つしかありません。事前に済ませてお越しください。

All our sweets are vegan, gluten free and nut free.

General Notes & Languages
The price of the experience includes a tea ceremony performance, a traditional tea sweet, and the opportunity to make your own bowl of matcha.
It is ok take photos throughout the tea ceremony experience, but please turn off the flash and respect the privacy of other guests. No videos please.
Tea ceremonies at Camellia are performed in English.

Cancellation Policy for Groups and Private Tea Ceremonies
Please note the cancellation rules for group and private bookings at Flower Annex are different.
Cancellations for private tea ceremonies at Flower Annex can be made up to 3 days before the date of the tea ceremony for a full refund. Cancellations made after this time will not be refunded.
Cancellations for the group tea room at Flower Annex can be made up to 1 week before the date of the tea ceremony for a full refund. Cancellations made after this time will not be refunded.
If the number of guests changes please keep us informed. If there is a decrease in numbers we will be able to refund you the difference (up to 3 days before the date of the tea ceremony for private guests, and up to 1 week before the date of the tea ceremony for group guests). If you want to add guests you can contact us right up to the day before the tea ceremony.
